From the process of uncovering of the Aphrodite sculpture“

Welcome to the archaeological site of Vardarski Rid in Gevgelija, or more precisely at the web page of the research project Vardarski Rid , at the Faculty of Philosophy - "University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. This web site is the result of the joint actions of the researching team for Vardarski Rid, lead by Prof. Dragi Mitrevski PhD.


This site is designed for all interested in the results and the current activities of the diggings at this site.


It provides information, both for the discoveries at Vardarski Rid and for the great potentials which this site has as the scientific, cultural and tourist point as well as familiarization with the future plans and possibilities for their effectuation.


This site was opened after 10 years of systematic research (1995-2004), at a stage when the site becomes more and more important and recognized as one of the most complex and interesting archaeological points in the Republic of Macedonia.
